I am considering purchasing a Volkswagen ID.3 and I want to know how much space I need in my garage for a charging station. Is a regular outlet enough or do I need to install a dedicated charging unit?
ReplyHey Sophie, great question! It really depends on your charging needs and setup. If you will be using a regular outlet, you will need at least 8 feet of space for the charging cable. However, if you want a faster, more efficient charging experience, I would recommend installing a dedicated charging unit which typically requires around 20 feet of space. Hope this helps!
Hi Sophie, congratulations on considering the Volkswagen ID.3! In terms of charging space, you can get away with a regular outlet in your garage, but keep in mind that it will take longer to charge compared to a dedicated unit. If you have the option and budget, I would recommend installing a dedicated charging unit for a more convenient and faster charging experience. Best of luck!
Hi Sophie, great question! I recently purchased a Volkswagen ID.3 myself and I can say that a regular outlet works just fine for me. It does take longer to fully charge compared to a dedicated unit, but I have not had any issues with space in my garage. In case you decide to install a dedicated unit in the future, just make sure you have enough clearance for the cable and unit. All the best!
