How reliable are used Volkswagen Passats?

I am considering buying a used Volkswagen Passat and I am wondering how reliable this car model is? I've heard mixed reviews and would appreciate some insight from owners or experts.

Based on my experience as a Volkswagen Passat owner, I can say that it is a very reliable car. I have had mine for over 5 years now and have not encountered any major issues.

I bought a used Passat from a dealership and have had nothing but problems with it. Constant issues with the engine and transmission. I would not recommend this car to anyone.

I work at a Volkswagen dealership and see many used Passats come in for repairs. While some may be reliable, I have seen a lot of major issues with this car model.
