How to properly maintain the air suspension on a Volkswagen Touareg?

I recently purchased a used Volkswagen Touareg with air suspension. I've heard that these systems can be quite tricky to maintain. Can anyone give me some tips on how to properly care for it? Thanks!

Hi Samantha, congratulations on your new car! The air suspension on a Volkswagen Touareg can be a bit challenging to maintain, but with the right care, it can last a long time. Firstly, make sure to check the air pressure in the suspension system regularly. Low air pressure can cause the system to work harder and potentially lead to damage. Also, try to avoid driving on rough roads as much as possible, as this can put extra strain on the system. If you notice any issues, don't hesitate to take it to a trusted mechanic for an inspection.

Hello Samantha, I have a Volkswagen Touareg with air suspension as well. I highly recommend using a silicone-based lubricant on the air springs at least once a year. This will help prevent them from drying out and cracking. Another important maintenance task is to clean the air compressor and related components regularly. This will help maintain its efficiency and longevity. Hope this helps!

Hey Samantha, in addition to the great advice already given, I would also suggest investing in a good quality air filter. This will help prevent any debris from getting into your air suspension system and causing damage. And don't forget to regularly check the condition of the suspension components such as the shocks and struts. Replacing them when necessary can help avoid more costly repairs in the future.
