Is the Volkswagen Golf a good car for road trips?

I'm planning on taking a road trip across the country and I'm considering buying a Volkswagen Golf. Can someone with experience in the car tell me if it's a good option for long distances?

I've taken my Golf on multiple road trips and it's been great. It's comfortable, has good fuel efficiency and handles well on long stretches of highway.
