Is the Volkswagen Golf a reliable car for daily use?

I am considering purchasing a Volkswagen Golf for my daily commute. I have heard mixed reviews about its reliability. Can anyone share their personal experience with this car?

I have owned a Volkswagen Golf for 5 years now and have had no major issues with it. It's been a reliable daily driver for me.
