Is the Volkswagen Golf reliable?

I am interested in purchasing a Volkswagen Golf, but I'm not sure if it's a reliable car. Can anyone provide personal experience or advice on the reliability of this vehicle?

I've owned a Volkswagen Golf for 5 years now and I can say that it's been extremely reliable for me. I haven't had any major issues and maintenance costs have been reasonable.

I would not recommend the Golf, as I've had numerous issues with mine. Constant trips back to the dealership and high repair costs have made it a headache to own.

I have a close friend who owns a Volkswagen Golf and she's had nothing but great experiences with it. She highly recommends it for its reliability and fuel efficiency.
