Is the Volkswagen Passat reliable for long-distance road trips?

I am planning a cross-country road trip and am thinking about renting a Volkswagen Passat. Should I be worried about its reliability or are these cars built to last?

I have taken my Passat on multiple long-distance road trips and have never had any issues. Great gas mileage and comfortable for long drives!

I wouldn't recommend the Passat for long-distance trips. Had to get it serviced halfway through my trip and ended up spending a lot of extra money.
