What is the most reliable model year for the Volkswagen Passat?

I am in the market for a used Passat and I want to know which model year has the least amount of problems.

In my experience, the 2017 Passat has been the most reliable model year. I have had minimal issues with mine and I have heard similar feedback from other owners.

Personally, I would avoid the 2012 Passat. I had numerous mechanical issues with mine and ended up trading it in after just a year. I've heard from others that this model year has had its fair share of problems.

I've owned a 2015 Passat for 3 years now and have had no major problems. I make sure to keep up with regular maintenance and that seems to keep any potential issues at bay.
