What model year should I purchase for a Volkswagen Golf?

I am considering purchasing a Volkswagen Golf but I am not sure what model year to buy. Are there any specific years that have had a lot of issues? Would love to hear from current or previous owners.

In my experience, I have found that the 2017 model year has been the most reliable for me. I haven't had any major issues and have been very happy with my Golf.

I would personally recommend going for a newer model year, like 2019 or 2020. The newer Golf's have better technology and advancements in safety features.
