What's the best model of the Volkswagen Polo?

I'm looking to purchase a Volkswagen Polo but I'm struggling to decide which model is the best. I've heard great things about the MK5 and MK6 models, but also some concerns about their reliability. Can anyone offer some personal advice on which model I should choose?
