Which is the best model year for the Volkswagen Tiguan?

I'm looking to purchase a used Volkswagen Tiguan and I'm not sure which model year is the most reliable. Can anyone recommend a specific year to look out for?

I have a 2015 Volkswagen Tiguan and it's been a great car so far. I would recommend that year.

I have a friend who has a 2018 Volkswagen Tiguan and she loves it. The newer models seem to be reliable as well.

I've had a lot of issues with my 2017 Volkswagen Tiguan. I would avoid that year and go for something older.
