Why does my Volkswagen Passat make a grinding noise when I brake?

I recently noticed that my Passat is making a grinding noise when I brake. It seems to only happen when I'm going at higher speeds. What could be causing this and how can I fix it?

It sounds like your brake pads may be worn down. This is a common issue with cars and can easily be fixed by getting them replaced. I would recommend getting your brakes checked by a professional mechanic as soon as possible.

Another potential cause of the grinding noise could be a problem with the brake rotors. Over time, they can become warped or uneven, causing them to make a noise when the brake pads come in contact with them. If this is the case, you will need to get your rotors replaced.

One thing you can do to prevent the noise from happening is to regularly clean and lubricate your brakes. This will help prevent any build up of debris that could be causing the noise. Also, make sure to get your brakes checked and serviced regularly by a professional.
