Is it worth it to upgrade the stock audio system in my Volkswagen Touareg?

I recently purchased a Volkswagen Touareg and I'm not completely satisfied with the sound quality from the stock audio system. I've heard that upgrading the speakers or adding a subwoofer can greatly improve the audio experience. Should I make the investment?
